Men's basketball opens season with victory


The Nittany Lions defeated William and Mary 65-51 on Friday night. Somphomore Talor Battle lead the way with 21 points. Battle also had five rebounds and three steals. Senior forward Jamelle Cornley had his ninth career double-double scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Cornly moved to 20th all-time on the Penn State career scoring list with 1,062 points. Senior guard Stanly Pringle had 12 points and somphomore David Jacskon had nine points. Penn State lead the game 8-0 and never looked back after that. Penn State lead at halftime 35-24. They out scored the Tribe 10-4 to start the second half to grab its biggest lead of the game, 45-28. After this lead Penn State controlled the rest of the game. A key to Penn State's victory was shooting percentage and turnovers. William and Mary shoot 38% and had 15 turnovers. Penn State shoot 47% and had 13 turnovers. It was a great performance by the Nittany Lions. Penn State will take on N.J.I.T. on November 17 at 7 pm. The game is on the Big Ten network if you would like to watch it. Penn State is 1-0 and N.J.I.T. is 0-1.
